Second class I've taken with her, and I am glad I did. Despite what some may think, I found her lectures to be very engaging and I feel that I learned alot from both of the classes I've taken with her. Plus she's written my grad school recommendations...
Chose quite a bit of insignificant music to discuss, provided very little insight, lectures uninteresting due to her just reading from poorly made powerpoint presentations. Lectures never went beyond readings, which made going to class pointless. Unfortunately, there is a stident attendance policy which forced me to take the class cr/ne.
Apparently she was "filling in" for the usual History 101 teacher, but the class was her talking for an hour straight out of the textbook, which was EXTREMELY boring, uninteresting, etc. She put in no effort, and the exams were a regurgitation of terms, not listening.
I had her for both Classical and a 300 and I thought she was much more interesting in the 300 class I took. She's a really sweet person and really smart, but the bigger the class is the more boring her lectures are.
She means well, but the course is boring. And if you're male, thats another 2 strikes against you. A couple of papers to write, but no readings are necessary. You'll learn all about the female composers, and discover all the negative aspects of the males. Her piano playing is enough to keep you coming back (its hard to keep from laughing). Take an early time so you can sleep through it.
