I am ot trying to be hateful, but I would appreciate it if students who don't understand the material would ask me to repeat or rephrase what I just said. Also, I am available before and after class; students also have my e-mail address and phone number, so I'm not hard to reach. And if they think I'm so terrible, at least explain why; I'm not a comedian by nature, so I can't help it if I don't put on a show every day. At least most of my student evaluations have been much better, as have my peer evaluations.

Also, what difference does it make if a professor is "hot"? I don't see many who are.

Oh, then you *don't* want to see what the other professors in your program are saying over on http://www.ratemywhinyasscolleague.com ...

I think its great that you care.
Just last week, I tried to ask my professor a question regarding unclear directions during a test. Raising my hand in efforts understand I was informed that he could't accept any questions. So due to miscommunication my A was a C. He is a wonderful professor but I felt he was unfair. So note to any professors PLEASE at least listens to a question chooseing wheather or not to answer.

Who are you? That's a strange ID. Are you referring to my colleagues at RCC when you mention ratemywhinyasscolleague? If I'm so terrible, I would have been let go a long time ago, but I'm in my sixth year there.

And to the poster who complained about a professor not answering a question about an exam, we have to be very careful lest we give one student more help than the others. In fact, I've found I've had better luck with open-book, take-home exams, in which I can explain the questions when I hand out the exams.

Can't see you getting a C in a class, especially in English comp--how dare they!?

I'm D®P¤â? â? ?hed, obviously; the name at the top of the post refers to the person posting, not anyone else.

You're not familiar with the concept of forums, are you.

As for improving student performance, I've found that if I actually type out the answers and give them to the students via e-mail, when I give them an open-book take-home exam, they do amazingly well. Their answers are almost universally astounding.

Actually I'm quite aware of how a forum works; I just think yours is an unusual ID, but no matter.
Since I have been unable to locate any comments on http://www.ratemywhinyasscolleague.com, do you mind telling me what was said in relation to me?

(In reply to rppatrick)

Certainly; it said you were insecure, very slow to respond to things that people say about you, and very, very gullible...

Hey, Zero to Getting-The-Joke in only 7 months isn't that bad for an academic...

In reality, ignore the stupid comments left by most self-absorbed and lazy students.

And given that each "Not Hot" vote negates a "Hot" vote, the fact that you get a chili-pepper means that not only the girls, but the guys are also rating you as hot. So if you don't have one, consider yourself lucky...

Zero to getting the Joke; that is too bleeping funny! I think your logic is flawed on the pepper, though. Don't you think the guys would mostly just leave that blank?

Geez, can't a guy rationalize away his non-chili-pepperedness around here? Why must everybody splash reality in my face???

I'm sorry. But, hey, something just occurred to me. It's probably only the super hot students that are giving you the "hot" ratings, and they're getting overshaddowed by the "not" ratings from the less attractive students. How's that for a nice thought?!

(In reply to rppatrick) All of this here at RMP is opinion. Don't get caught in the hipe. If it makes you that mad, don't visit this website anymore. Your gonna end up exploding on someone in class. Then what? The comment you posted didn't help you, huh? There is nothing you can do but try to be a good and nice professor. -Is that so hard? NO ITS NOT -even when people are jerks. Count to 10 or something. Take deep breaths but dont get caught up in the hipe or someone elses opinion, because in the end, everything that is written in here is an opinion thus not being as valid as one might think. Its the ignorant people that do not know this. See, did that piss you off. Calm down dude. Mellow out.
