So....my professor likes to randomly sing my name. Like after class or when he's handing back papers. Is there anything to this? Or is he just being a jolly old man? (he's gotta be pushing 70)

Maybe your name featured in an old song that was special to him. Some names make me sing: Maria, I just met a girl named Maria; Ben, most people would turn you away; I love little Buttercup ... ;)

Buttercup

Well, my name is in several songs, it just seemed weird/odd to me that he sang it. I had assumed most of my professors to not even know my name or be completely anti-social. Of course, I do go to a community college...so....maybe that has something to do with it as well.

You are a most desirable woman and any 70 year old man should see that; otherwise, shame on them.

I think singing your name is a bit odd. If it bothers you, you could say something to him about it. I'd keep it short and polite. I am curious, though, why you would assume your professors are antisocial.

I suppose that I had assumed that because I have a brother who goes to a much larger college where there are over 100 students in a class, and I had assumed that all professors would be the same and know no ones name. But going to a community college I see that that is very untrue. All of my professors know my name and are quite kind.

Thanks to ck5 who said the nice thing about me. A bold thing to say seeing as you have never met me, but kind nevertheless.

(In reply to Galligirl01) Tell him that you would rather be called something he can't pronounce like uhhhh, Hakimekojolilymonster or something. It would be funny to see him try to ryhme a song with something rediculous. I know this seems far-fetched but it would be halariuos. If you do this would you post it on youtube or somethin'? I would like to see it!

No one on this forum would doubt the desirability of such a poster.
