Teachers who just lecture

I have a teacher who lectures through class. What makes things worse is the monotone of the teachers voice. I find it hard to figure out what that teacher thinks is important to the class. Sometimes I wished we had homework assignments to learn the subject a little better because the only thing we get graded on is test. I have a test taking anxiety. I think it would be nice to be graded on something other than test. Does anyone fell like I do or am I a nerd? -By the way, I am doing horribly in this class.

Ok, I was just wondering because there are different ways to study for different classes, and if your teacher just lectures then some of the more important stuff you can find out of your book, or if it's something that requires memorization, flash cards are a big help too.

(In reply to Galligirl01) That is a great idea. It is memorization. I don't know why I just didnt try that (flashcards). It has been a while since I have studied and I forgot all about that technique. -THX ALOT naldo007

Hey no problem! let me know if it works for you. I just got out of high school and am in my first semester here at college, so I still remember some of the different methods used. Hope you do well in your class!

Also...I'm not sure what class this is, but when my brother would help me study he'd come up with these clever little sayings to go along with the word or phrase (in history, science, etc.) sometimes the phrase had nothing at all to do with fact, but by the time the test rolled around I could remember the (most often stupid/funny) things he said and was able to do quite well on the exam! It could help doing that as well.

(In reply to Galligirl01) The only reason I don't say what class this is, is because I don't want anyone to get in trouble for their teaching style. People try to track people down in here and nothing someone says is safe. But I will try what you said in the last comment. Thank you for all of your help. Its been years since I have studied!

(In reply to Galligirl01) By the way thanks for being positive and not rude. Everyone at school is just trying to make things happen and you seem like one of those who would try to help anyone. So thanks for being so nice

I totally understand! That's really sweet of you as well to not say the class so you don't get the teacher in trouble! A lot of people wouldn't even think of that! And yes, you hit it right on the head, if I can do anything for anybody I will! In fact, sometimes I'm too nice! I have a friend who has me re-type her papers often after she revises them because I have a break in between classes and she doesn't. hehe, yeah, I like helping people--I pretty much can't say no if someone asks for help.
